At Football Business this week we have been – like the overwhelming majority of people in this country - shocked and appalled by the images we have seen unfolding on the news.
Whatever discussion there should be about the societal problems that lead us to this point should be for the future. For now, we can all say it is an inescapable fact that everyone knows the difference between right and wrong.
Mercifully amongst our League providing partners the terrible scenes have resulted as - far as we know – in just one cancellation.
Our Franchisees reported no real problems and all the leagues they run went ahead as planned.
There aren’t many lessons that a Franchisee can learn from these troubled times, except perhaps, this one:
Discipline at your league is something that you have to take more seriously than arguably any other issue.
Any problems regarding a player, or a team simply have to be rooted out immediately if you want your league to be happy, fun, and above all else, profitable.
You must – of you go yourself – make sure that everyone is happy, and if you don’t referee then you must establish a good relationship with your official down at your league so that they can your eyes and ears.
We insist that your partner league provider has the strongest discipline structures available in 5 and 6 a side football. We do this for three reasons: 1) to protect you 2) to make the league fun for all the players and 3) so you earn lots of money.
This is your business. And we – no matter what goes on in the outside world – want you to do well.
Football Business and you – it’s a perfect match.
